Wearables, activity trackers and health monitors are some of the gadgets that are wearing crown in this emerging landscape of wearable technology. From continuous heart rate monitoring to smartwatch style notifications, there’s dizzying array of brands to choose from. And enthusiasts like you probably crave to get oneway.
Stand-alone fitness trackers have a good few years left before smartwatches render them obsolete. So if you are in mood to purchase a fitness tracker, you’ve got to look here at Pebble Time.
Design:

Kicking things off with the design, Pebble Time fitness tracker has a simple and elegant design. For those who want something simple and classy apart from Fitbit, Jawbone and Samsung Gear S2, Pebble Time is the brand serving them a simple and elegant fitness tracker. Weighing 42.5 grams, the watch doesn’t look bulky and heavy on your wrist.
Display:
Pebble Time checks off nearly all of the boxes: it tracks steps, floors climbed, distance travelled, calories burned and active minutes. While other smartwatches only comes with a circular watch face, Pebble Time also has square watch face. Its display is easy to read and you can customize it to show whatever metrics you desire. The display also manages to show all the information you need from a fitness tracker. Rather than touch display, this smartwatch features buttons that are placed downside of the device.
It shows smartphone notifications and the current weather along with music-player and camera remote controls. Its distance measuring capability is particularly impressive.
To bubble out required information like time, battery level or phone connection, just press the given buttons.
Features:
Made of a soft material, the device is refreshingly comfortable to be dressed on your wrist. You can easily remove the straps of the watch. It comes in three different colors, viz. red, white and black. With the new health-tracking system dubbed Pebble Health, the watch is capable of tracking sleep and steps. To give you more granular view of your data, the app will also share data to Apple’s health app and Google Fit.
With the watch, you can adjust your daily goals. It also has a feature that allows you to view your week data in the form of graph. The stats will tell you how much you’ve moved or slept on any given day.
Speaking of apps, the Pebble Time is compatible with over 6500 app currently available on the Pebble Store.
Compatibility:
It’s not an issue whether you own an Android or iOS device, Pebble Time connects to both. It has a color e-ink display and LCDs that are used by Android Wear devices.
The watch features scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass and it’s water resistant at up to 50m.
Pebble Time: Voice
Thanks to the new microphone, the watch now adds voice reply and dictation. Although, it doesn’t have its own Google Now voice assistant. On Android, you will be able to voice command to the apps like SMS, Hangouts, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and more, while on iOS the feature will work with Gmail notifications and just a few select apps.
Though I personally could not justify the purchase of smartwatches because of their ridiculously low battery life, Pebble Time is something I’ll surely go for.
The watch, however, doesn’t need to be charged regularly, rather it needs to be charged once in four days, and this is the reason why I’m getting hooked to it.
Well, I can only say, the deeper you dig, the more impressive features you’ll find.
